How to do

Variation 1 (With arm movement)

General:

  1. Breathe through the nose throughout
  2. Keep the mouth shut at all times
  3. Breathing to be via diaphragm or belly as far as possible
  4. The exercise is to be performed as fast as possible but do not strain
  5. There should be no pause between inhalation and exhalation

Prep:

  1. Sit comfortably with the spine straight
  2. Raise your hands next to your shoulders in a fist with the palms facing forward
  3. Exhale fully before starting
  4. Stretch your arms out straight above your head and open the hands while breathing in forcefully
  5. Return to the starting position while breathing our forcefully
  6. Continue for a few minutes

Variation 2 (Without arm movement)

General:

  1. Breathe through the nose throughout
  2. Keep the mouth shut at all times
  3. Breathing to be via diaphragm or belly as far as possible
  4. The exercise is to be performed as fast as possible but do not strain
  5. There should be no pause between inhalation and exhalation

Prep:

  1. Sit comfortably with the spine straight
  2. Exhale fully and forcefully
  3. Inhale fully and forcefully, first the abdomen then the chest
  4. Continue for 10 to 60 cycles
  5. At the last end, take a deep breath and hold for as long as comfortably possible
