How to do

First Breath:

General:

  1. Standing or sitting is acceptable
  2. Feet flat on the floor with the spine straight
  3. Keep tongue on the palate throughout

Steps:

  1. Place left thumb gently against left nostril
  2. Exhale completely
  3. Close left nostril with left thumb and inhale through right nostril to a 6-count
  4. Close right nostril with left forefinger and hold the breath to a 3-count
  5. Remove left thumb from left nostril and exhale through left nostril to a 6-count
  6. Close both nostrils and hold the breath to a 3-count
  7. Close right nostril with left forefinger and inhale through left nostril to a 6-count
  8. Close both nostrils and hold the breath to a 3-count
  9. Remove left forefinger from right nostril and exhale through right nostril to a 6-count
  10. Close both nostrils and hold the breath to a 3-count
  11. This is one repetition
  12. Complete 6 more before resting
